Issue No. 1, Volume MMVIII
First sessions with sonic legend, Michael Brauer began on March 9th of this year after weeks of our preparing for his arrival. Since moving in, Michael has mixed projects for Hall & Oates (Live in London), The Undeserving, Natalie Imbruglia, Alpha Rev, Regina Spektor, and Colbie Callait.
Brauer is a New York-based mixer whose credits encompass a wide range of genres, and include The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Ben Folds, John Mayer, and recently, The Fray, Yusuf, and The Doves.
We look forward to Michael’s continuing mark on music history from our historic Studio ‘B.’

The versatility and reliability of Solid State Logic recording consoles is the foundation of Electric Lady Studio's Control Room B. The SSL 80-input SuperAnalogetm console is the control center of this up-to-date tracking and mixing room.
Modern recording techniques often require extensive input capacity even for ensembles of modest size. With the availability of up to 24 vintage outboard Neve or Focusrite mic preamps and the ultra-clean SSL channel mic preamps, Studio A can accommodate the most complex and demanding tracking requirements.
Three discreet stereo console foldback channels complement the 8-station 16-channel headphone monitoring system. With capability of two pair of active or passive nearfield monitor switching and an optional mono monitor, onboard and remote talkback selection, the console is ready to satisfy any recording challenge
Those waiting for the follow up to Metric’s Live It Out (2005) will not be disappointed with the band’s latest offering, Fantasies. Buzzing, humming guitars and incessant dance beats on tracks like “Gold Guns Girls,” “Gimme Sympathy,” and “Sick Muse” are tempered with tracks like the twinkling “Twilight Galaxy,” the sinuous “Help I’m Alive,” and the dreamy “Collect Call.” Singer, Emily Haines has a brassy, sexy persona and can deliver a commanding sneer or Lolita precociousness with equal aplomb. Together with the pop gloss on her keyboard work and the sharp edges of James Shaw’s guitars, Fantasies – like Live It Out – delivers smart and stylish pop of the highest order.
